 INCREASES IN PRICES OF BREAD, MEAT AND CEREALS PUSHES UP INFLATION IN NIGERIA
 
INCREASES IN THE PRICES OF BREAD, MEAT AND CEREALS HAVE PUSHED UP NIGERIA'S INFLATION RATE TO EIGHT POINT THREE PERCENT.
 
THIS IS CONTAINED IN THE CONSUMER PRICE INDEX RELEASED BY  THE NATIONAL BUREAU OF STATISTICS FOR THE MONTH OF JULY.
 

THIS IS ALSO THE FIFTH CONSECUTIVE MONTH OF YEAR-ON-YEAR INCREASES IN THE INFLATION INDEX.
 
THE REPORT NOTED THAT THE EIGHT POINT THREE PERCENT RECORDED IN JULY REPRESENTS AN INCREASE OF ZERO POINT ONE  PERCENTAGE POINT OVER THE EIGHT POINT TWO RECORDED IN JUNE.

THE GOVERNOR OF THE CENTRAL BANK OF NIGERIA, GODWIN. EMEFIELE HAD LAST MONTH IDENTIFIED PRESSURE FROM FOOD - CORE INFLATION INFLATION AND THE RISKS  OF INCREASE IN SPENDING AHEAD OF THE 2015 GENERAL ELECTIONS AS POINTS TO MONETARY POLICY STABILITY.
