Watch out every one!  NESTLE MILO  is up to something fresh and crunchy!

NestlĂ©, the leading Nutrition, Health and Wellness Companyis is set  to break the world record for the longest breakfast cereal table. The historic event which will be the first world record attempt for NestlĂ© Nigeria will take place on Saturday 30 November at Cocoa Mall, Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

According to Gerben Kamps, the Category Business Manager, NestlĂ© MILO Crunchy Cereals, “With this world record attempt, we want to create awareness about the importance of taking breakfast. Studies have shown that people who skip breakfast miss out on many vital nutrients, which they are unlikely to make-up for during the rest of the day.”

The current world record dated Friday 26 April stands at 1,354 participants who sat down in Dubai to eat together the world's largest cereal breakfast. Commenting on the choice of location, Kamps said that the management  recently opened Cocoa Mall  to embrace the cause of the world record attempt.

“We want to give the people of Ibadan a fun-packed morning for the entire family. All you have to do is bring your kids along on Saturday 30 November and join us at 9 AM at Cocoa Mall,” said Kamps.  In addition, there will be great prizes to win and games to play. The first 100 people to be seated will instantly get a welcome gift.
There will be a NestlĂ© MILO Crunchy Quiz with lots to learn about and earn with nutrition. There will be music, dance and laughter for the whole family. Other attractions include a bouncing castle, face-painting and unlimited flow of cereals!

Since its launch in April 2012, NestlĂ© MILO Crunchy Cereals has been embraced by Nigerians. So far, the brand has given over a million bowls of cereal for free to try in supermarkets across the country. Kamps said, “This year we’ve teamed up successfully with the world's premier toy company, Mattel and brought Hot Wheels to Nigeria. Special packs of NestlĂ© MILO Crunchy Cereals had free Hot Wheels race cars inside.” The Category Business Manager also added that in December, a similar promotion will run in partnership with National Geographic

Kamps also stressed the nutritional benefits of eating breakfasts noting that all NestlĂ© cereals are made with fibre-rich wholegrain and every bowl contains great source of vitamins and minerals.
He concluded by saying, “The advantage of NestlĂ© MILO Cereals for breakfast is convenience and nutrition to the mother and great tasting, fun breakfast to the children. So far, 36 million kids have relished 36 million bowls of nutritious NestlĂ© MILO Crunchy Cereals.

Growing fears of insecurity have been mounting over the past few months in the country following report of  lack of stable supply and rising food prices.

Prices of essential commodities and food products have skyrocketed making them unaffordable to the common man, caused by well meaning but seemingly impractical policies of the federal government in these segments.

Prices of rice, for instance, has been hitting historic highs of N12,500 per bag, triggering a panic amongst the people across the country. Persistent increase in prices of other staple products such as fish, bread, meat, cereals, chicken, yam, onions, beans, vegetable oil, tomatoes, groundnut oil and others have aggravated the continued woes of the common man.

Shortage of products and ever-increasing prices has created unsettling sentiments across communities, dampening the country’s efforts to end poverty. There are estimates that more than 65 per cent of the Nigerian population are food insecure.

"Food addiction" is becoming a popular term to explain overeating. But in this Scrubbing Up, Professor John Blundell from the Institute of Psychological Sciences at the University of Leeds warns the term is being used far too freely.

Some have likened food addiction to drug addiction, and then used this term to associate it with overeating, and as a clinical explanation for the obesity epidemic, implicating millions of people.

The use of the term food addiction is a step towards medicalisation and implies that normal human social behaviour is pathological.

Forms of eating therefore become an illness. This attitude is not helpful and has huge implications for the way in which people view their own behaviour and their lives.
